Pneumatic floating rubber fenders can play an important role in ships’ safe berthing operation. Essentially there are two main types of floating pneumatic rubbers, defined as either low or high pressure fenders. Pneumatic rubber fenders are made of synthetic-cord-reinforced rubber sheets with compressed air inside at initial pressure of 50kPa (low pressure) or 80kPa (high pressure) to enable it to float on water and work as a shock absorber between two ships or between ship and a dock. Although manufactured using different techniques, both low and high pressure fenders work by the same principle.

The purpose of the pneumatic rubber fender
1.Ship to ship berthing

Net-type fenders are covered with a chain net, wire net or fiber net for fenders. Usually these nets have used-tires together with rubber sleeves for additional protection, except fiber net which has only rubber sleeves. Chain nets last longer against corrosion, while wire nets are light and more easily repaired.
Sling-type fenders have an attachment eye on each end for lifting and installation. Handling of sling type fenders is easy due to their lightweight.
